Canal Museum
The Panama Canal Museum is located in a beautifully restored building that was once the office space of the French Canal Company, the U.S. Isthmian Canal Commission offices and then, in 1912, the main Post Office. It is full of artifacts and information on the planning, construction and present-day operation of the feat of engineering that put Panama on the map. The entire museum is signposted in Spanish - no English - but even if you don't read the language it is worth a visit and English-speaking guides and audio tours are available for a small fee. Admission is free to Panamanians and legal residents on Sundays.
